The State Security Committee of South Ossetia has released the data on the results of activities to protect the state border for the first month of 2026.
According to the agency's official statement, 22 law violators were detained at various points along the border in January.
Sixteen of these persons violated the state border regulations, and six violated the border regulations.
The KGB Border Service officers investigated each identified incident.
"As a result, one criminal case was opened, four citizens were expelled from the Republic, 12 people were fined administratively, two were issued official warnings, and three more detainees are currently under investigation," the KGB stated.
The total amount of fines collected by the state amounted to 30,500 rubles.
The Border Service paid special attention to security issues in the tourist areas. Specifically, active recreation enthusiasts planning to visit the ski slopes near the village of Ruck are urged to strictly adhere to the rules of stay in the border zone. They must have identification documents (passport, service ID), and for minors, a birth certificate.
The agency has emphasized that intentional violation of legal regulations entails not only administrative but also criminal liability. The KGB representatives have assured that all possible entry points for violators are under the full control of the RSO border forces.
The agency also calls on citizens to cooperate in matters of national security.
