In connection with aggravated last time situation over South Ossetia and Abkhazia IA «Res» correspondent interviewed the deputy of RSO Parliament Chairman Tarzan Kokoity.
«We are seriously concerned about the Georgia’s intention to launch full-scale military operation in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. There is good reason to think that Georgia is going to solve the problem of South Ossetia and Abkhazia by force. The point is that Georgia has no any grounds for the legal resolution of our problem. Up to now Georgia has been backed by EU, OSCE and the US. But now, when «old» Europe, namely France, Germany and Spain supported Russia’s position at the UN Security Council pertaining to Georgia and Ukraine joining NATO, Saakashvili undertakes a tremendous provocations truing to drag western states into Georgian-Ossetian and Georgian-Abkhaz conflicts. We are extremely concerned by this fact but believe that common sense will prevail and that Russia does not allow another genocide. We were assured that in case of Georgia’s aggression Abkhazia and South Ossetia will be supported by all North Caucasian republics»-said Tarzan Kokoity.
«As for the political facet of the issue, the Government of the Republic is calling for Georgian authorities to resume the negotiations and solve the problem peacefully, rather than deteriorate relations of ossetian and georgiuan people»-mentioned Tarzan Kokoity.
