The RSO President Eduard Kokoity held a meeting with power structures' heads to discuss the security situation at the border between South Ossetia and Georgia. As the Yury Tanaev, the RSO Defense Minister stressed, shelling of the territory of South Ossetia from the Georgian side became frequent. "Georgian armed forces are intensifying their presence along the borderline. Movement of armored vehicles closer to our territory has been lately observed", reported Tanaev. He characterized these actions as provocative, aiming at inducing the South Ossetian and Russian armed forces into armed confrontation to impose pressure over the authorities of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation at the international level.

"There are no obvious evidences of preparation of an aggression by the Georgian side, but all these provocations should be closely followed and prevented", stated Tanaev.
According to Boris Attoev, with the 1st anniversary of the August 2008 war ahead, the Georgian side is masterminding provocative actions in the areas of Georgia adjacent to the borderline with South Ossetia.
"The campaign is targeting mainly youth, since the older generation is quite critical towards these measures of the Georgian authorities", said Attoev. He underlined that in general all checkpoints of the Georgian police units along the border with South Ossetia had been reinforced through additional units of Special Forces and armored equipment. Eduard Kokoity called on the chiefs of law enforcement and defense structures to intensify preventive measures and vigilance and impose limitations on the movement across the state border between South Ossetia and Georgia.
