Today, the seventh round of Geneva talks on security in the Caucasus has started. One of the main topics for the discussion are agreements on non-use of force against South Ossetia and Abkhazia by Georgia, that would become the main security guarantee for the two independent states.

The South Ossetian delegation will also raise the questions on preventing illegal abductions of South Ossetian citizens by Georgia power structures. The cases had lately become more frequent. It is planned to discuss other humanitarian issues. The session will be held in two working groups, the first of which deals with security related problems and the second with humanitarian aspects.
Geneva talks on security and stability in the Caucasus were first convened in October 2008 after the hostilities in South Ossetia ceased. Official representatives of Russia, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Georgian, EU, OSCE and UN are participants to the talks. The talks resulted in Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism established.
