Today, the South Ossetian President's Special Representative for Post-Conflict Settlement Boris Chochiev met with the ICRC Mission representative Gilles Hansoul. As Boris Cchochiev reported to Res Agency, the discussion focused on the issues related to the meeting in Geneva on missing citizens of South Ossetia between representatives of South Ossetia and the ICRC. "The meeting in Geneva is held upon the initiative of the ICRC. Today we agreed on the date for this meeting in Geneva, since we expect the CoE Commissioner Tomas Hammarberg to arrive in South Ossetia on the same dates in February", said Chochiev.

He explained that the Human Rights Commissioner intended to engage independent international lawyers in investigation of cases of abducted South Ossetian citizens. "In case if the Georgian side does not show its good will and does not release the illegally detained citizens of South Ossetia or if information on our citizens identified by Georgian authorities as "missing persons is not provided, Hammarberg promised to invite independent international lawyers to South Ossetia and to Georgia. According to Hammarberg, they should get involved in the investigation of the missing cases and some other cases", said the Special Representative.
