On September 19, with the national holiday, the 20th anniversary of the Republic of South Ossetia, ahead, public and political figures of the 90s, members of the Parliament of South Ossetia met in the “IR” media center.
As reported by the president of the Media Center Irina Gagloeva, the participants talked about Russia’s assistance throughout the struggle of South Ossetia for independence.
"With the strengthening of Russia’s position in the world, and owing to the inhumane foreign policy of Saakashvili regime towards South Ossetians, the Russian leadership could not help but intervene in the conflict of 2008", said Gagloeva.
According to her, the main topic of the meeting was the development of relations between Russia and South Ossetia since 90s until the recognition of the Republic of South Ossetia by Russia.
"The meeting touched upon the peacekeeping operation of Russia in the Caucasus, the socio-economic support of Russia to South Ossetia before the recognition, the activities of the JCC, international aspects of Russian policy with respect to unrecognized states", said Irina Gagloeva.
The meeting also discussed the role of public and political organizations in the liberation movement, the historical and political orientation on Russia as the only possible guarantor of security in the Caucasus.
