South Ossetia proposes the international community, humanitarian organizations to build up settlements for 100,000 Ossetian refugees from Georgia, said the South Ossetian President's Plenipotentiary for Post-Conflict Settlement Boris Chochiev.

"The international community and UNHCR have built up big settlements in Tserovani (Georgian town near the borders of South Ossetia - author.) and other places of Georgia, for those who are not affected, and no one had ousted them from South Ossetia. Why wouldn't the UNHCR build the same kind of settlements for Ossetian refugees who have not participated in the fighting, but suffered because of their ethnicity? Why no one had ever considered the possibility to build up housing for more than a hundred thousand Ossetians expelled from Georgia in the early 90s of XX century only because they were Ossetians, " said Chochiev.
He stressed that to date the authorities of South Ossetia have been trying on their own to provide housing for refugees.
"Now the issue of resettlement of refugees is under way. Housing intended for the refugees in the settlement "Solnechny" has been rehabilitated to accommodate those living in difficult conditions in collective centers. Some families have already moved in apartments in "Solnechny", said Chochiev.
In conclusion he added that the property rights of the refugees who lost their housing during the Georgian aggression in the early 90s of XX century should be restored.
It is worth reminding that the 13th round of Geneva Discussions on Security in the Caucasus to be held tomorrow, 14 October, the South Ossetian side is going to raise the refugee issue among other priority problems.
