The Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) started the realization of the next agricultural program in the villages of South Ossetia. It has been reported IA "Res» by the employee of the Mission for Public relationship Marina Tedety.
"The Program is targeted for rendering free aid the inhabitants of the rural regions of South Ossetia by means of providing them with seeds of different vegetables for increasing the volumes of the harvest", - she has said.
According to Tedety, the income of the rural inhabitants a great deal depends on the harvest, which they reap from their land lots: the more production they sell, the higher will be the income. It will assist the villagers to increase the opportunity of keeping their families owing to their own sources of revenue.
"The employees of the Mission are planning to complete the realization of the Program by April15. In general, it is planned to render free aid about 5500 families in 140 villages in the different regions of South Ossetia", - has noted Tedety.
As the employee of the Mission said , the similar programs had been realized in South Ossetia in 2009 and in 2010, and each year they had been covering a great deal of families in the rural regions.
"In 2009 2600 within the framework of the Program 2600 families were rendered the aid and in 2010 - 4600 families, so the number of the beneficiaries of the Program has been increasing year after year", - has said the employee of the ICRC.
She also noted that the planning of the Program had been implementing, considering the results of realization of the previous Programs and also the needs of the rural inhabitants in vegetable seeds. In this connection the kit of aid, which has been rendering the households, includes the seeds of radish, tomato, cucumber, onion, carrot, cabbage, potato and etc.
According to Tedety, for increasing the productivity of the villagers` land lots and for providing with the steadier results of the Program, the kit of the seeds has been supplemented with the detailed advices on cultivating and care for the grown crops and also the recommendations on conservation of some part of the harvest as the seed stuff for the next year.
