The Georgian officials should thoroughly study a concept "occupation". It has been declared to the news agency "Res" by the Plenipotentiary of the RSO President on post-conflict settlement Boris Chochiev, making comments on the statement of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia Grigol Vashadze that the next year the basic priority of work of the Georgian state will be the withdrawal of the Russian troops from the "occupied territory" and beginning of the peace operation.
«I would like to declare once again – South Ossetia has never been occupied, - Chochiev has emphasized. – there are a lot of occupied territories in the world, and, by the way, the country which armed and blest Georgia for the military aggression against South Ossetia, repeatedly set the occupation lead». He has reminded that South Ossetia was never and will never be the part of Georgia. «I`d like to inform Vashadze, that South Ossetia was as a part of the Soviet Union and Georgia itself was one of the Union`s republic. Now we live in the independent and sovereign Republic, and our people themselves will choose their friends», - the Plenipotentiary has noted. Chochiev has also underlined that the Russian army is stationed in the Republic according to the interstate agreement. «Russian army has rescued not only the Ossetians, but also representatives of other nationalities including the Georgians, and all of us are alive today thanks to the Russian troops», - he has summarized. Chochiev has concluded that only the people and the leadership of South Ossetia can set a term of staying of the Russian army in the territory of South Ossetia. As he said, it`s not the business of the neighboring state- Georgia- at all!
