South Ossetia and Georgia have agreed to continue the process of mutual transferring of the convicted persons. It has been declared by the RSO Deputy Presidential Envoy on post-conflict settlement Merab Chigoev after the meeting in the format of Mechanisms on Prevention and Reaction to Incidents (MPRI), which took place today at the border of South Ossetia in the Georgian village of Dvani. "During the meeting we agreed that the process of mutual transferring of the convicted persons should be continued in the future – Chigoev has underlined. - We have reason for optimism in this matter. «According to Chigoev, during the meeting the sides noted some improvement in the situation at the border of South Ossetia and Georgia.
"Today, the situation at the border is more or less stable - Merab Chigoev has noted. - I am sure that if we do not politicize humanitarian issues, we`ll be able to help people living on both sides of the border as much as possible. The Plenipotentiary also noted that the number of violations of the state border of South Ossetia and Georgia had been reduced. "In the period from December, 21 to January, 23, 25 persons were detained for violating the state border. But not any action has been brought against them; all the detainees have been transferred to the territory of their country", - the Deputy Presidential Envoy has stressed. It should be reminded that the agreement on establishing the Mechanisms for Prevention and Reaction to Incidents and the meetings of the working groups from South Ossetia, Russia and Georgia with participation of the EU and the OSCE representatives was achieved in the fourth round of the Geneva discussions on security in the Caucasus in February 2009.
