Information note of the Central Election Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia
Today, February 29, 2012, the Central Election Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia has completed registration of the candidates for president of South Ossetia.
In the course of its work the CEC examined documents of 20 action groups and two political parties, nominated their candidates for the presidency.
From among the 22 presidential contenders only four ones have been registered.
Here is the list of the registered candidates for the presidency of the Republic of South Ossetia in order of their registration:
- Leonid Kharitonovich Tibilov - former head of the KGB of South Ossetia,
- David Sanakoev - Human Rights Ombudsman,
- Dmitry Medoev - Ambassador of South Ossetia in Russia
- Stanislav Y. Kochiev - the leader of the Communist Party of South Ossetia.
Three contenders have refused to contest for the presidency:
- Igor Alborov - Deputy Minister of Defence,
- George S. Kabisov - former head of the State Committee of Information, Communications and Mass Media,
- Tarzan Kokoity - former presidential representative in the Parliament.
15 contenders were not registered as candidates for the presidency:
- Roin Raminovich Kozaev - head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry,
- Maurice B. Sanakoev - former chairman of the Committee of Transportation,
- Vladimir Stepanovich Kelekhsaev - former MP, entrepreneur,
- Oleg Ruslanovich Kozaev – entrepreneur,
- Inal Gersanovich Dzukaev - coach
- Ruslan N. Bagaev - former head of Dzausky District
- Felix G. Bitiev - CEO of the insurance company,
- Murat Mukharbekovich Guchmazov - Advisor to Chairman of the KGB,
- Rustem Gersanovich Dzhioev – entrepreneur,
- Pavel K. Kumaritov - former head of Dzausky District
- Anatoly Kharitonovich Dzhioev – entrepreneur,
- Yuri Albertovich Dzitstsoity - Deputy Speaker of Parliament,
- Sergei Zasseev - former MP,
- Sergei Merabovich Bitiev - Chief bailiff
