The second round of presidential election in South Ossetia has been held in accordance with the current electoral legislation of the Republic. This has been declared by the head of the State Duma observer delegation Vladimir Ponevezhsky at the CEC Information Center.
Having visited polling stations in the city of Tskhinval and in Tskhinval district of the Republic, he noted high level of organization, openness and transparency in the work of the election committees.
"We have not revealed serious remarks that could affect the election results during the election campaign. It should be stated that a complicated electoral process completed in the Republic. The second round of presidential elections has been held in accordance with the current electoral legislation of the Republic", - said Ponevezhsky.
According to the observer mission from the Russian State Duma, elections of the president of South Ossetia went off in an organized way, with high voter turnout.
"The electoral committees, the government and executive authorities have ensured implementation of the free will of citizens. The country has created the necessary conditions for the elections to be held openly and democratically, in accordance with the national legislation. The presidential elections have been recognized successful, free and open", - underlined the observer.
Ponevezhsky expressed hope that the people of South Ossetia had made the right choice and in the near future the name of a new president will contribute to the rapid rehabilitation of South Ossetia, stability and prosperity.
It should be noted that on the invitation of the South Ossetian parliament the delegation of the Russian Federation State Duma Federal Assembly took part in monitoring the second round of presidential election in South Ossetia. The delegation has included six Duma deputies, representing all factions: the "United Russia", the Communist Party, "Fair Russia" and the Liberal Democratic Party.
