The overwhelming majority of South Ossetian residents voted for Vladimir Putin

In South Ossetia the turnout in presidential elections of Russia amounted to 15,839 voters. This has been reported to IA "Res" by the Russian consul in South Ossetia Tamerlane Zasseev.
According to him, this is 2426 persons more than in the December elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, when 13,403 residents of South Ossetia participated in the voting.
Zasseev has also noted that this is the final outcome of the vote. "The counting of votes began immediately after the polls closing, the election results, signed by members of the electoral committees were sent to the Foreign Ministry and to the Russian Central Election Committee. The members of the "United Russia" voted for Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, - this accounts for 92, 77% of the total number of voters, 3, 71%- for the leader of the Communist Party Gennady Zyuganov, 1, 61%, - for a self-promoted businessman Mikhail Prokhorov, 1, 48%- for a leader of LDPR Vladimir Zhirinovsky and 0, 43%, -for a leader of the "Fair Russia" Sergey Mironov,"- Zasseev specified.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of South Ossetia, the voting process was being held in a quiet atmosphere without any incidents, public safety in the Republic and maintaining order at the polling stations were provided by 500 law enforcement officers.
It should be reminded that the election of President of Russia in South Ossetia was held at 12 polling stations: four of them were located in Tskhinval, one - in the town of Kvajsa, for one polling stations were operating in the four administrative centers of the Republic. In addition, the Russian soldiers voted at two polling stations in the cantonments of the 4th Russian military base in Tskhinval and in the village of Dzau; one polling station was opened for the Russian border guards in the Department of the FSS of the Russian Federation Border Control Agency in South Ossetia in the village of Dmenis.
