July 13, South Ossetian branch of the nonprofit organization Development Fund-"Institute of the Eurasian Studies" is planning to lead in Tskhinval a round table discussion "Peacekeepers in South Ossetia: 20 Years Later."
As IA "Res" has been informed at the press service of the Fund, the event is timed to the 20th anniversary of the deployment of the Russian peacekeepers in South Ossetia.
"Russian and South Ossetian experts, as well as the public and political figures have been invited to participate in the round table discussion. Besides, former military peacekeepers will also take part in the discussion of the topics,"- has been noted at the press service of the Fund.
It should be reminded that the Mixed Peacekeeping Forces were brought into the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone in South Ossetia, July 14, 1992, and maintained the fragile peace in the Republic till August 2008. Bringing of the peacekeeping forces is celebrated annually in the Republic as Peacemaker`s Day.
