On the eve of the Day of Russia`s recognition of independence of South Ossetia President of the RSO Leonid Tibilov met with the Ossetian peacekeepers staff of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, disbanded in 2010.
The President congratulated the peacekeepers on the upcoming holiday, wishing them long life and success. After which the President presented the peacekeepers wrist watches.
"You have been in South Ossetia at difficult times - said Tibilov. - We, in turn, will always remember those guys whose efforts have been directed to ensure that our Republic has now become a recognized state. "
The President has stressed that tomorrow, August 26, the Republic will celebrate a great holiday - the Day of recognition of South Ossetia by Russia.
"Russia has so high prestige in the world, that recognizing us, its example was followed by other countries - said Tibilov. - At present, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia is working hard to increase the number of countries that will recognize our statehood."
According to the President, at the level of the leadership of Russia and the RSO the issues on pensions of citizens serving in South Ossetia are being resolved.
"Russia today is specially disposed towards South Ossetia in terms of solutions to the problems we are facing - the president said. - As you know, the Russian President's administration established a special office, which will give instructions to the Ministry of Regional Development, through which money is allocated for our Republic. "
Tibilov has noted that during the four years the regenerative processes in South Ossetia were slow.
"During this period in the Republic could have been done a lot, now we can hope that the situation will improve in South Ossetia," - said the president.
The head of the state assured the peacekeepers he was ready to assist them in addressing their concerns.
"I am ready at any time to meet with you", - underlined the president.
During the meeting Tibilov instructed his advisor Rodion Siukaev to resolve the issues on helping the two peacekeepers wounded during the war in August 2008.
It was also discussed the employment of the former South Ossetian peacekeepers.
According to the Minister of Emergency Situations of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov, today about 70 former peacekeepers are working at the Emergencies Ministry.
In turn, the senior military commander of the former South Ossetian peacekeepers contingent, Colonel Kazbek Friev expressed gratitude to the President of South Ossetia for his caring for peacekeepers.
