South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov has received the delegation of the Federal Service of the State Statistical Department of Russia, who arrived in South Ossetia on a working visit. The delegation is led by the head of the RF Statistics Office Alexander Surinov. As reported to IA "Res" by the press-secretary of the RSO President Ghana Yanovskaya, the meeting had focused on the issues of improving the legislation of the RSO in official statistical service and the state statistics system, the work on the statistics of demography and population and others.
The President has stressed that the arrival of the delegation in South Ossetia indicates further strengthening cooperation between the relevant authorities of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation.
"The South Ossetian leadership has always welcomed such collaboration. In many ministries and agencies of the Republic were carried out reforms primarily related to changes in methods of work and the transition to new forms and approaches to work, "- said the president.
The President also outlined the need to continue the activities for professional retraining.
"For many years South Ossetia had been at permanent war with Georgia. Today the Republic is on the way of development for a better life. We face serious challenges as the rehabilitation process is still ongoing. And in the near future South Ossetia must reach a new level of quality of life "- the president said.
Alexander Surinov, in turn, thanked the President for his support.
"I would like to say that without your support, without the support of the top leadership we will not be able to achieve any results in our work," - he said.
The head of the Russian Statistics Office has said that during his visit to South Ossetia will be developed the questions of methods for calculation of gross domestic product (GDP), the organization of statistic observation, as well as their control.
"Statistics is a large international family that, I think, I may say so, has found today, the South Ossetian brother. Our work will focus on key issues and, of course, we will work to improve the skills of the staff of the Statistical Management of South Ossetia ", - he said.
As stressed by Surinov, the work of Statistical management was an important element of the state formation: "The transparency of economy depends largely on the work of this agency."
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of South Ossetia Guram Melkoev, head of the RSO Statistical Management Eric Pukhaev and members of the Russian delegation.
During the visit it will be signed the plan of joint activities of the Statistics Office of the RSO and the RF Statistics for 2013-2015.
