Statement by the NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on the situation at the border between South Ossetia and Georgia, made in Brussels on June 5, 2013, is hasty and politically engaged, said IA "Res" the RSO Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev.
"The statement is made, apparently at the request of the Georgian authorities. It is regrettable that the high-rank politician can bring charges based on anecdotal information and its ill-founded, clear support for Georgia, that, according to him,'' may contribute to buildup tensions'' because such clear support has convinced the Georgian authorities of the truth of their deceitful strategy "- said the envoy.
According to Dzhioev, the fact is that the action recently launched in Georgia against the activities in South Ossetia on defining a frontier between the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia, is another propaganda campaign designed to mislead its people, as well as the international community.
"In Georgia, such expression of emotions and positions has become common occurrence. Similar hysteria against South Ossetia was launched last year on the eve of parliamentary elections in Georgia. The current aggravation of the situation and the appeal to the West may be linked to the upcoming presidential elections. The fact that the new government of Georgia has launched this propaganda campaign in the spirit of Saakashvili, is a testament that it has not departed from his ideas in regard to South Ossetia ", - emphasized the envoy.
In fact, according to him, there is no any violation of the sovereignty and the territory of Georgia.
"The Border Service of KGB of South Ossetia is working on the definition of the frontier in full compliance with the laws of the RSO. In this case, all the works are carried out in the territory of South Ossetia, at some distance from the border line, "- said Dzhioev.
However, he has noted that the South Ossetian side is ready for a dialogue with the Georgian side to discuss all issues related to the state border between the two states.
At the Geneva talks, our delegation has repeatedly called on the Georgian side to work together on the delimitation, but did not achieve an understanding "- said the envoy.
It should be noted that on June 5 the NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in Brussels, that the works, carried out by the Border Service of KGB of South Ossetia on the definition of the frontier between South Ossetia and Georgia was "a violation of international law" and the peace agreements between Russia and Georgia reached in 2008.
