Leonid Tibilov: The stay of the Red Cross in South Ossetia may be reconsidered

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia was instructed to revise the issue of staying the Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia. Such an order was given by President Leonid Tibilov at today`s enlarged meeting with the heads of ministries and agencies.

"In accordance with the Regulations on the Red Cross, this organization usually stay in the countries where is declared the state of emergency. There is not the state of emergency in the Republic, so the stay of the Red Cross in South Ossetia could be reconsidered. It is necessary to approach their work in principle, to evaluate the usefulness and validity of staying this organization in the Republic, "- said the president.
It should be noted that the ICRC has been working in the territory of South Ossetia since August 2004.
