Features and trends of the parliamentary elections in 2014 were discussed yesterday at the Media Center "Ir." The meeting was attended by experts of the Media Center Yuri Vazagov, Valentina Kotolova, Dina Alborova, as well as representatives of the People's Party Amiran Dyakonov and the "United Ossetia" Peter Gasiev.
The Head of the Media Center Irina Gagloyeva has noted that elections have always been important for people of South Ossetia.
"Elections in South Ossetia were always held competently and democratically - Gagloyeva said. - If you remember the 1990s, when the elections were held in the most difficult conditions for the Republic, people elected those they wanted. "
In turn, Amiran Dyaconov said that a mixed electoral system in South Ossetia would be more acceptable.
"The parliamentary elections in 2014 - the next stage of strengthening state-democratic conditions in South Ossetia, - he said. - Proportional system considerably limits the eligibility of a citizen. Mixed electoral system would reflect all political tendencies in the Republic. "
Summarizing the meeting, the participants came to the conclusion that effective activities of the parties in the election race would ensure a high turnout of the electorate.
