President of the Republic of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov has received the renowned historian, professor at the Agostinho Neto University (Republic of Angola), a native of South Ossetia Muraz Kozonti.
The head of state warmly welcomed the guest, emphasizing that he is familiar with all his achievements and works.
"You live far from your homeland, but despite this, you have remained a true patriot, proudly representing your nation in a faraway Angola. And despite the fact that thousands and thousands miles separate you from your native Ossetia, we feel your presence by your work and love for your motherland,"- the president said.
For his part Muraz Kozonti has noted that he considers it a great honor the meeting at such a high level.
"For me today is a historic date. For many centuries we did not have our own state, and today for the first time I have met with the president and the head of the South Ossetian State. The fact that such a small nation was able to form the independent state will go down in the world history. I am proud to have had the honor to meet with you today, with the head of the independent state, "- said the professor.
The head of state and Muraz Kozonti were also talking about the political situation in our country. The President told about the positive changes in the Republic.
Leonid Tibilov has stressed that currently is underway the joint work on the draft treaty on alliance and partnership with Russia, that is very important for South Ossetia.
"Today, we have already received from the Russian colleagues a proposal for the future name of the treaty, which in the future we are going to discuss with the parliament of the republic, as well as with the public. It is assumed that the name of the treaty will be: The agreement on alliance and further integration of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation ", - said the head of state.
Leonid Tibilov has added that we can now say with confidence that the customs checkpoint in Lower Zaramag will be removed in the near future: the professor was very glad to hear the news.
During the meeting the president and the professor also discussed issues related directly to education and culture. It was emphasized that for such a young state as South Ossetia it is necessary to find opportunities for further development of friendly relations with other countries, as well a cultural exchanges, etc.
The professor has offered his assistance.
In Africa Muraz Kozonti, along with his main work, is studying the history of the Alans from India to Africa. Here he found archaeological evidence of the presence of the Alans. He wrote 12 studies on this subject.
At the end of the meeting, President Leonid Tibilov presented to Muraz Kozonti a silver coin, issued in honor of the 155 th anniversary of Kosta Khetagurov. In turn, the professor also presented African souvenirs to the head of state.
