The South Ossetian side has called on the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia to intensify the work on the preparation of the legally binding documents on the non-use of force by Georgia against South Ossetia and Abkhazia., told reporters Presidential Envoy of the RSO for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev after a meeting with the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions, arrived in Tskhinval to prepare for the next meeting in the Swiss capital.
"The main question that we raise at the Geneva discussions is to develop a legally binding document on the non-use of force by Georgia against our people. Today, we have expressed our concern about the fact that in Georgia will be deployed the NATO training center. We know by our own experience that the Georgian troops, repeatedly attacking South Ossetia, were trained by the NATO experts. We have called on the delegation to intensify the work in this direction at the next round, and make a joint statement on the principles of non-use of force,"- said the envoy.
Dzhioev has added that at the meeting have also been discussed humanitarian issues.
"First of all, it is a question of the illegally detained citizens of South Ossetia who are serving sentences in Georgian prisons who for more than 20 days of hunger strike, as well as the issues of the missing persons," - he said.
The Envoy has noted that these questions are raised at the Geneva discussions, as well as at the meetings in the framework of the Mechanisms for preventing and responding to incidents.
"We have been instructed by the leadership of the Republic, the President of South Ossetia, to raise this issue at each meeting with all international organizations. Therefore, representatives of international organizations, in particular the OSCE, have met with relatives of the detainees, so that they can see their concern and bring it to the Georgian authorities, "- said Dzhioev.
The UN Co-chairman of the Geneva discussions Anti Turunen, in turn, has noted that the meeting was fruitful.
"We have discussed general issues related to security in the South Caucasus, - said Turunen. – The Geneva discussions –this is a platform where each party can express its opinion and concern. Through the MPRI we try to avoid threats and challenges on the spot."
