.Recognition of South Ossetia by Russia, first of all, is the recognition of the hard work that the people of the Republic invested in the formation of their state, stated the Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev in the Sputnik press center.

"That is, in August 2008, Russia recognized the really existing state," Dzhioev said. - For the people of South Ossetia, the recognition, of course, also meant a long-awaited release from another threat of Georgia. In August 2008, Russia helped our Republic to repel Georgian aggression, forced the aggressor to peace, thereby showing that it was not indifferent to the fate of Russian citizens, the people living in South Ossetia. "

According to Dzhioev, in order to exclude further encroachments of Georgia on a young sovereign state, Russia decided to recognize it.
"Thus, the Russian Federation recognized the really existing state - the Republic of South Ossetia, and began to build with it an equal, friendly relationship based on international law," the Envoy underlined.
He has added that over the past ten years the Republic has built relations with the Russian Federation that are consistent with international law, based on a solid legal framework.

"Over one hundred inter-state, intergovernmental, interdepartmental agreements have been signed between our states," Dzhioev said. "There is cooperation, integration in all areas of life between South Ossetia and Russia."
The Envoy has also noted the importance of the Treaty of Alliance and Integration, signed between the two countries in 2015.
"It is very important, in my opinion, that the Russian Federation has undertaken to ensure the securityof South Ossetia," he said. "In accordance with the Treaty, has been created a common security and defense space for the two states."
