The State Duma of Russia plans to consider on Tuesday a bill on ratification of an agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation and the RSO on the terms of the sale of shares and the further activities of Gazprom-South Ossetia. As reported by the "Parliamentary Newspaper", the document will be submitted for discussion by the State Duma Committee on the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots of the Russian Federation.
"The Russian government will buy out South Ossetia's stake in the joint venture of Gazprom-South Ossetia and pledges to assist in the gasification of the entire republic, as well as investing in modernization of its gas infrastructure of at least 2 billion rubles," the Parliamentary Newspaper reported. ".
The corresponding agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia was signed on May 24 at the site of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
In the text of the document it is noted that 100% of the shares of Gazprom-South Ossetia will go to Gazprom's ownership. Currently, the company owns 75% of shares + 1 share, and the government of the RSO - 25% - 1 share.
Also, the South Ossetian side undertakes to transfer for a nominal fee the existing assets in the sphere of distribution and sale of gas on the territory of the Republic.
In addition, after signing the agreement, the parties plan for two years to develop and agree on the methodology, principle and procedure for calculating gas prices for residents of South Ossetia.
Earlier, President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov told reporters that Gazprom would be able to start actual works only from the beginning of 2019.
