Georgia is once again trying to inflate the international scandal and bring the usual border violation incident to the political plane, said during the briefing the head of the State Committee for Information and Press of South Ossetia, Maria Kotaeva,
“A few days ago, Georgian citizen Maya Otinashvili was detained by border guards for violating the border near the village of Aemdzaerin (formerly Tsinagar) on the territory of South Ossetia. This case differs from all other similar facts in that it helped others illegally crossing the border for a monetary reward,” said Kotaeva.
The head of the South Ossetian information agency drew attention to the noisy campaign launched in the Georgian media, which accused South Ossetian security officials of beating Otinashvili, violating her rights, etc., in order to inflate an international scandal.
She has also reported that yesterday representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross visited Otinashvili, and this suggests that South Ossetia is an open country that respects all legal norms.
“Today, the Information and Press Committee, for its part, organized a small press tour to the temporary detention center of Otinashvili. during the talking with her photos and videos were made. Therefore, we can state with confidence that no physical force was applied to the citizen of Georgia. Moreover, Maya told reporters that she was satisfied with the conditions of detention. She was also provided with a lawyer and an interpreter”explained Kotaeva.
She has stressed that, given these facts, Georgia will not succeed in inflating an international scandal.
