The representative office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia in Pesaro (Italy) held a campaign "What is journalism after Assange?" in support of journalist and founder of Wikileaks Julian Assange, freedom of speech and the rights of journalists in Europe, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia.
The event was held in the “Sala Palazzo Gradari” - the building of the City of Pesaro.
"The rally was attended by a representative of the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia in the European Parliament, a prominent politician and writer Giulietto Chiesa, prominent Italian journalists, representatives of the city’s public. The rally participants condemned the actions of the Ecuadorian and British authorities, who, following only political motives, followed orders from Washington and for which the neutralization of the journalist has become one of the priorities, "said the press service.
They have noted that the participants have expressed confidence that such actions are a violation of fundamental democratic rights and called for an unequivocal position in defense of Julian Assange.
The action was moderated by a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia in Italy, Mauro Murgia.
