A major event is taking place in Moscow - the II International Forum on the Development of Parliamentarism, in which the delegation of the Parliament of South Ossetia, led by Speaker Alan Tadtayev, is taking part. According to the press service of the Parliament, the delegation has also included Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Alexander Pliev and Chairman of the Committee on Legislation on Law and Local Self-Government of the Parliament Alan Gabatty.
This year, the Forum, which is held on the initiative of the State Duma, will be attended by representatives from 132 states - about 800 parliamentarians and experts. More than 40 speakers from national parliaments are scheduled to participate in the Forum .
Addressing the Forum participants, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin noted the importance of inter-parliamentary relations and parliamentary diplomacy in the modern world.
“The II International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism ”, which today has united us all, is being held for the second time. This year the number of participants has grown significantly, last year there were 19 speakers at the Forum, this year 41. Also last year 96 countries were represented, this year more than 800 parliamentarians and experts from 132 countries will take part in the Forum. This suggests that the interest in the Forum is growing, since everyone on this platform has the right to express his position and be heard, ” said the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
Vyacheslav Volodin has added that the dialogue to be held within the framework of the Forum will contribute to the constructive solution of the most pressing international and regional problems.
The Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation has congratulated the Forum participants on the International Day of Parliamentarism, noting that "this young holiday is celebrated since 2018, but its emphasizes the importance of the role of national parliaments in the global space."
The Forum program includes topical issues of international security and stability, the development of a digital economy, youth and environmental policy. The Forum will host the events of the Russia-Africa parliamentary conference.
It should be noted that the well-known European parliamentarians are taking part in the event: PACE leaders of different years - PACE Chairman 2005–2008 René van der Linden and PACE Chairman 2016–2017, Spanish Senate Member Pedro Agramunt, and Honorary Chairman of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Ilkka Kanerva, as well as co-chairman of the Association “French-Russian Dialogue” Thierry Mariani.
Accredited more than 400 Russian and foreign journalists.
Also on the margins of the Forum are scheduled bilateral meetings of the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin with the heads of a number of foreign parliaments.
On June 30, participants of the II International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism”, within the cultural program, visited the opera “Masked Ball” performed by masters of the Bolshoi Theater.
