President of South Ossetia, Anatoly Bibilov, left for the village of Uista (formerly Tsnelis) in Znaur district of the Republic, in the vicinity of which an illegal checkpoint is being built by the Georgian side to learnthe situation on the spot, the presidential press service reports.
The President talked with villagers who are worried about the provocation carried out by the Georgian side on the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia.
Anatoly Bibilov assured the residents that nothing threatened the village of Tsnelis.
"In order to maintain stability and security, our posts, in such quantity as necessary, will be placed where it is necessary. No one can cross the border. No matter what provocations is carrying out Georgia s, our people will be in safety," the President said.
He noted that “during both the Geneva talks or the IPRM meetings, provocations by Georgia are always activated. But South Ossetia has every opportunity to counter these provocations. Neither the Georgian side, nor even our citizens should doubt it”.
Residents of Tsnelis said that they wanted to hear just such assurances from the head of the Republic.
Anatoly Bibilov also visited the immediate vicinity of the border, got acquainted with the situation on the spot and gave relevant instructions to the heads of security agencies.
He also instructed Murat Dzhioev, the Plenipotentiary Envoy for post-conflict settlement, to voice South Ossetia’s demands to stop provocations at the border during the upcoming IPRM meeting (meetings within the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms).
