The protocol ratified by the Council of the Russian Federation on the supply of Russian oil products to South Ossetia without the use of temporary customs declaration will contribute to the activation and development of trade relations between the countries, said Deputy Prime Minister -Minister of Economic Development Gennady Bekoev.

The Council of the Federation of Russia at a meeting on October 23 approved the law on ratification of the protocol providing for amendments to the intergovernmental agreement with South Ossetia on the regime of trade in goods. Earlier, on October 17, the State Duma of the Russian Federation ratified this document at its plenary meeting. The protocol provides for the simplification of customs clearance of oil and oil products imported into South Ossetia.

"The abolition of temporary customs declarations for oil and petroleum products imported from Russia greatly simplifies customs procedures, paperwork, and also facilitates the participation of middle-sized businessmen in procurement of fuel and lubricants," Bekoev’s press service reports.

The protocol was signed between the governments of Moscow and Tskhinval in May 2019. The document does not apply to the export of natural gas.
