South Ossetia insists on the removal of the Georgian police post illegally put up in South Ossetia. As the head of the South Ossetian delegation, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative for post-conflict settlement, Yegor Kochiev, told reporters, at the sixth technical meeting in Ergneti on Friday in the format of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM), each party had their own opinion, but there was an understanding, that this incident should be resolved "by purely peaceful means."
“At this stage, the Georgian party does not compromise. South Ossetia declares that the only possible way to solve this incident is to remove the Georgian police post from the territory of South Ossetia, withdraw armed men and demilitarize this region,” he emphasized.
According to Yegor Kochiev, the Georgian party claims that the post is located in Georgia, which is completely untrue. “We have announced this and will continue to state it. Moreover, the Georgian post should be removed from the territory of South Ossetia,” added Kochiev.
International observers have decided to act outside the mandate
Regarding the issue of violators of state borders, both on land and by air, among which were representatives of the EU observer mission, then, according to the head of the South Ossetian delegation, this issue was also raised at a technical meeting. “The South Ossetian party asked the EU representatives why they violated the state border of South Ossetia.
According to them, the patrol of the observer mission got lost. However, this fact raises many questions. We hope that there will be no more such violations again, otherwise the South Ossetian side will take legal measures,” the Deputy Envoy said.
