South Ossetian citizen Joe Mestas, who lives in the USA, told IA "Res" about the life in the state of Florida in isolation and the spread of coronavirus:

"Hello to my friends in Ossetia! My wife, daughter Sandra, and I feel good in St. Petersburg, which is located in Florida, USA. We live three minutes from the beach, but we can’t go, despite the fact that the weather is beautiful. The governor ordered that all beaches be closed so that the President’s decree on two-meter distance between people is respected. Today, President Trump extended the decree on social distances until April 30.

Schools have been closed for two weeks now. Sandra is in 11th grade. Her school today began conducting video tutorials with teachers.

Over the past two weeks, people in stores have been actively buying items such as toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer, alcohol and many canned goods. People are buying up in a panic, perhaps because of fear that a general quarantine may be necessary. Only important institutions are open. Closed restaurants, bars, shopping centers.

To date, there are 5,473 confirmed patients with coronavirus in Florida, 60 of whom have died. There are 126 infected and 6 deaths in our district. There are 144,672 confirmed and 2,575 deaths in the United States.

Federal health officials estimate 100,000 to 200,000 deaths in the United States. It is a deadly widespread virus. The virus can live for hours on surfaces that infected people have touched, sneezed or coughing next to. Do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth without washing your hands. If the stores do not have a hand sanitizer, you can do it yourself using alcohol and gel.

From my family I wish you safety, follow the directions of the government and health officials. Follow my Instagram page @Joe_Mestas. Also look at my site, I have many photos from trips to Russia and South Ossetia. "
