The South Ossetian State Security Committee has noted that the Georgian side continues to prevent the Georgian and international NGOs from obtaining objective information about the processes taking place on the South Ossetian-Georgian state border, restricting freedom of movement, and is also engaged in direct disinformation of the Georgian population, the Tbilisi leadership and its western curators. This is stated in the message of the special service on Tuesday.
Under these conditions, the Republican KGB, through the patriotic representatives of the Georgian NGO movement, continues to receive information about the processes taking place on the border territory.
“So, on the state border section, in the area of the village of Uista (Tsnelis), the Georgian side is trying to simulate the situation that preceded the unlawful post of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs in August 2019. In a forest located in the area of the village of Chorchana of the Khashur municipality are recorded marks and symbols made by paint on trees. In 2019, the Tbilisi regime, before the start of the “Tsnelis crisis,” held a similar event, presenting the marking of the area as an activity of the Border Service of the RSO KGB, after which the illegal post of the Georgian law enforcement agencies was installed, " the message reads.
The Committee has noted that in the northeastern outskirts of the settlement of Chorchana a new post of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has been constructed, the object is located in a forest belt, and at least five police officers are registered there.
"As part of the development of border infrastructure, the Tbilisi regime announced the start of the construction of a 3-kilometer stretch of the Brolosani-Chorchana asphalt road, which will allow the Georgian side to ensure the fastest possible redeployment of additional forces and funds to the region. A hospital has been deployed in the village of Abisi, Karelian municipality, ostensibly for coronavirus patients. The increase in provocations, the regular use by the Tbilisi regime for aerial reconnaissance of UAVs, helicopters and light-engine aircraft, the strengthening of the existing and the deployment of new Georgian Interior Ministry posts along the state border line, the deep crisis in the economic and domestic spheres caused by the pandemic and the elections to the Georgian Parliament, scheduled for autumn 2020., as well as the inaction of the EU Monitoring Mission, are considered by the State Security Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia as actual threats to regional security, which can lead to an escalation of tension on the South Ossetian-Georgian state border.
Assessing the current situation, the KGB of South Ossetia has emphasized that all the border facilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, as well as the possible directions of penetration of violators of the state border, are in control zones and sectors of impact of the border forces of South Ossetia.
