The operational staff to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus infection in Russia has decided to open the border with South Ossetia; the order of the Russian government will be signed in the coming days.

"Following the meeting, a decision was made to open the state border of the Russian Federation with the Republic of South Ossetia. The corresponding order will be signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in the coming days," the operational staff told reporters.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.

On August 30, President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov proposed to open the border with the Russian Federation on September 15, in this regard, he instructed the Health Ministry of the Republic to increase stocks of medicines to be ready to receive patients.

Speaking at the meeting of the operational staff for countering the spread of coronavirus in the Republic, Bibilov has noted that in the coming days, the actions will be agreed with the Russian side and equal conditions will be created when crossing the border for all citizens of the Republic and Russians. At the same time, he has noted that if the agreement with the Russian Federation is signed earlier (for example, on September 10), then the opening of the border, accordingly, will also happen earlier.
