78 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been detected in South Ossetia

In South Ossetia, over the weekend, 192 people have been tested for COVID-19; 78 tests showed a positive result, the Republic's chief sanitary doctor Marina Kochieva told IA “Res” on Monday.

"Since Saturday, 78 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been detected in South Ossetia. A total of 469 citizens have fallen ill since the lifting of restrictions on the border with the Russian Federation (September 15), " Kochieva said.

The chief sanitary doctor of the Republic has noted that in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, the population must adhere to the mask regime, at the first symptoms of the disease, do not self-medicate, but call a doctor at home.

Since April of this year, more than 6 thousand tests for COVID-19 have been carried out in the laboratory of the South Ossetian Consumer Supervision Committee. In the Republic, all secondary schools and educational institutions are closed for two weeks due to cases of coronavirus and seasonal SARS and influenza.

Due to the growing spread of coronavirus infection, the Ministry of Health has deployed up to 100 beds in the children's hospital of the RMMC.

In addition, on behalf of the President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov, the Defense Ministry of the Republic sent a letter to the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation with a request to send a military field hospital to the Republic, which will be designed for 150 beds.
