The Tbilisi regime continues to take actions leading to escalating tensions on the South Ossetian-Georgian border, the South Ossetian State Security Committee reported on Thursday.

"So, on February 3 at 09:19, in the vicinity of the settlement of Diseu, Tskhinval district, a border guard detachment of the RSO KGB Border Guard Service, recorded an attempt to illegally enter the RSO by an unidentified Georgian police officer, who, having penetrated into the territory of South Ossetia about 20 meters, was monitoring the border zone, "the press service reported.

Similar violations of the state border in this area, occurred in the period from 20 to 22 January.

“The Committee is also particularly concerned about the regular facts of activation of signal barriers. In particular, on February 7, 2021, at 17.50, on the left flank of the settlement of Uista, in the immediate vicinity of the state border line, an alarm system. The additional exploration of the area carried out by the South Ossetian border guards revealed traces of the violator in the direction of the Georgian settlement of Kobi Khashur municipality," the KGB has noted.

The KGB of the Republic believes that the leadership of the security forces of Georgia, giving an order to move saboteurs into the sectors of influence of South Ossetian units, creates a real threat of direct clashes, with a possible escalation of the conflict.

“Against this background, in connection with the growing military threat in the region, the KGB has noted the next constructive steps of the patriotic representatives of the Georgian NGO movement who monitor the border area and inform the Georgian public about the existence of the state border between the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia. So, on the initiative of David Katsarava, on February 13, 2021, an action is planned to be held at the section of the South Ossetian-Georgian border in the vicinity of Akhmadz, Leningor district, during which the leader of the NGO movement will mark the state border line on the ground. These actions of civil activists in the future will allow to reach the proper level of consciousness of the residents of Georgia, reduce the level of violations at the state border and form in the Georgian society a sense of responsibility for violating the border legislation of the RSO, " the message reads.

The KGB positively evaluates the activities of the above Georgian NGOs in line with the interests of South Ossetia.
