The Parliament of South Ossetia intends to ratify agreements on the mutual recognition of the length of service of military personnel and on the mutual recognition of the disability of persons dismissed from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the next session
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law ratifying an agreement with South Ossetia on the mutual recognition of documents on disability of former employees of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of both countries. The document was published on Tuesday on the official portal of legal information.
The document was signed in Moscow on March 17, 2020. It regulates the issues of mutual recognition of documents confirming the fact of establishing the disability of persons dismissed from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and South Ossetia so that they can, at their choice, receive a pension under South Ossetian or Russian legislation.
It is established that for the mutual recognition of documents confirming the fact of establishing the disability of these citizens, the parties use the identity of the wording of the reasons and groups of disability.
As noted in the accompanying documents to the law, the agreement applies to citizens of the Russian Federation who were dismissed from the Ministry of Defense or the Ministry of Internal Affairs of one of the contracting parties and who became disabled due to injury, concussion or illness received in connection with their service in the Republic of South Ossetia.
The agreement is concluded for 10 years and is automatically renewed for subsequent five-year periods, unless either party declares its intention to terminate it no later than six months before the expiration of the next period.
The head of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Konstantin Kosachev called this agreement a continuation of the legal formalization of the juridical base of interstate relations with South Ossetia.
