President Anatoly Bibilov congratulated Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on the Independence Day of the Syrian Arab Republic, the press service of the head of state reported.
The congratulatory message, in particular, reads:

The policy of the governments of the Syrian Arab Republic, carried out under your leadership, creates a solid foundation for further development and advancement of Syria, and also opens up wide opportunities for fruitful cooperation between our countries.
People of Ossetia will always remember with gratitude the invaluable support that the Syrian Arab Republic provided to our Republic by recognizing South Ossetia as the independent and sovereign state.
I am convinced that strong bonds of friendship based on a sense of deep mutual respect and trust will further contribute to strengthening and building up bilateral partnership relations between our countries.
