Good conditions have been created for further development of trade and economic ties between South Ossetia and Russia, said Taimuraz Goginov, trade representative of South Ossetia in Moscow.
He reminded that a whole package of interstate agreements and other normative documents had been signed, aimed at fruitful cooperation between the two countries.
"Over the past few years, there has been a positive trend in trade turnover between South Ossetia and Russia, and in 2019 the volume of trade flows between the two countries increased by 20% compared to 2018. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic has spread throughout the world, and the restrictive measures imposed have affected all spheres of life, including trade. In this regard, in 2020, the trade turnover between Russia and all the Transcaucasian states decreased. But with South Ossetia, the flow of goods last year increased by 11.33% compared to 2019," Goginov stressed.
According to him, this is a great achievement of the top leadership of South Ossetia, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Embassy of South Ossetia in Russia, who are doing everything to develop fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the field of economy.
"We are ready to provide domestic companies with all possible assistance in selling their goods and services on the Russian market, and at this stage, active work is being carried out to promote the South Ossetian mineral waters in Russia. Special emphasis is placed on "Bagiata". In addition, measures are being implemented to find potential investors and promote the image of South Ossetia as a platform with good conditions for investment, " the trade representative explained.
Goginov believes that South Ossetia has a significant natural resource and tourist and recreational potential, and the country's leadership is ready to provide investors with all possible assistance.
