External forces are systematically stepping up pressure on the strategic partner and ally - Russia, President of South Ossetia said, speaking on Monday with a message to the people and the Parliament.
"There are increasing attempts to shake up the situation in the CIS countries, radically change the vector of their development, embed them in an alien system of values and tear them away from Russia. The frequent and increasingly brazen attempts to distort historical facts, to put the USSR and Hitlerite Germany on the same level, and to question the priority of the Soviet people-the victor in the defeat of fascism - cannot but cause rejection and extreme indignation," he stressed.
The head of state has noted that along with ideological aggression and all kinds of provocations, the military presence of the countries of the North Atlantic military alliance in the immediate and dangerous proximity to the Russian border area is rapidly increasing and advancing.
“It is obvious that anti-Russian forces are striving to turn the post-Soviet space on Russia's borders into an arc of constant tension. These forces are taking more and more steps aimed at defrosting old conflicts and fomenting the new ones. Tensions around Transnistria are growing. Major regional powers are also declaring their growing geopolitical ambitions,” the President said.
The most serious challenge for the world, he said, was the resumption of the armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh - for the 21st century, simply unprecedented in intensity, involvement of third forces and human losses of the parties.
“The Karabakh war had a most serious impact on the security configuration in Transcaucasia. The most serious concern is the situation around the republics of Donbass. The Republic of South Ossetia is located at the junction of geopolitical platforms, and in one of the troubled regions. It is quite obvious that what is happening in the world, the destabilization in the Transcaucasian region and wider - at the Russian borders over a huge length - is directly projected on the security of the Republic of South Ossetia,” the President emphasized.
He has added that realizing the impossibility of achieving its aggressive goals by force, Georgia provokes an escalation of tensions on the border, is actively working to discredit South Ossetia and Abkhazia, trying to present both republics through the prism of its propaganda on every international platform, making every effort to implement the policy of non-recognition and creating the most uncomfortable foreign policy conditions for our two countries.
