At the meeting with the Ambassador of Syria to the Russian Federation Riyad Haddad on the sidelines of the SPIEF, President of South Ossetia Anatoly addressed sincere congratulations to President Bashar al-Assad in connection with his convincing victory in the elections, and to the people of Syria a peaceful sky.
“We regard this victory as a triumph of justice and a political victory of the people of the Republic of Syria. I would like to emphasize once again that I accept this victory of the people of Syria as a victory of the people of Ossetia,” Anatoly Bibilov said.
The head of state has stressed that South Ossetia has developed very good brotherly relations with Syria.
“We will be building up these relationships. We have already said that we plan to work out and complete the issue of opening the South Ossetian Embassy in the Syrian Arab Republic in the near future. I think that this step will allow us to cooperate even more efficiently in virtually all areas that we have identified in general with the President,” Bibilov said.
In turn, Ambassador of Syria to the Russian Federation Riyad Haddad thanked the President of South Ossetia for sincere congratulations addressed to Bashar al-Assad.
“I will certainly convey your congratulations to Mr. President. And I would like to express my gratitude to you personally, Mr. President, and also in your person to the Ossetian people, for standing side by side with the Syrian people in all areas, especially in political terms,” the Ambassador said.
He noted the unconditional victory of Bashar al-Assad, despite pressure from the West, led by the United States.
“And, thank God, that in my previous activity I was able to work and do everything possible to ensure that the Syrian Arab Republic, represented by the government and the leadership, recognized the independence of South Ossetia,” Riyad Haddad said at the meeting with the President.
On May 29, 2018, the Syrian Arab Republic recognized the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia; on July 22 of the same year, it established diplomatic relations with South Ossetia.
