Our task is for South Ossetia and Abkhazia to become not only observers, but full members of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC), said Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Viktor Vodolatsky during a video bridge Moscow-Tskhinval-Sukhum on the topic "The role of Russia in the formation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia: partnership and integration" at the site "Sputnik-South Ossetia".
“We need to follow the path of involvement in those international institutions where Russia has a controlling stake,” Vodolatsky said.
According to him, EurAsEC is moving towards expanding its capabilities.
“This is a union of partnership and good-neighborly relations, and the most important goal of EurAsEC is the development of the economies of the states that are part of it. There was not a single complaint about the execution of certain agreements. And the new customs code, which we adopted last year for EurAsEC, allows us to further integrate production, joint ventures to fulfill the tasks that have arisen today in the domestic markets of each state,” said Vodolatsky.
Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov, in turn, noted that the issue of the Republic's entry into EurAsEC is extremely promising.
“I will not yet talk about the issue of South Ossetia's joining Russia, but I will say that the issue of the Republic's joining EVRAZES is extremely promising. Of course, the potential of the Republic is small compared to other participants, but nevertheless, South Ossetia should enter this union, and in this a significant role is assigned to parliamentarians, and I ask for your assistance so that at least at the first stage, South Ossetia I was in EurAsEC as an observer,” the Russian Ambassador addressed to Vodolatsky.
Concerning cooperation with Russia, the Ambassador noted that over a hundred documents had been signed with the country in previous years, which cover all spheres of life.
“The Investment Program of Social and Economic Development of the Republic is also being implemented, this is already the third program. We will not stop there, we have big plans, a new plan for 2023-2025 is being drawn up,” he stressed.
According to the Ambassador, at the same time, the budget of the Republic is growing, there are positive indicators in the economic sphere.
“The trade turnover for 2020 amounted to about four billion rubles, which is planned
