President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov met on Friday with a delegation of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, headed by Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs.
According to the press service of the head of state, the meeting was also attended by Speaker of the RSO Parliament Alan Tadtaev, Russian Ambassador Marat Kulakhmetov, member of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Defense and Security Crym Kazankov and the executive secretary of the Russian part of the Commission on Cooperation of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia Nadezhda Dakhova.
Anatoly Bibilov greeted the guests who head the Interparliamentary Commission of the Russian Federation and South Ossetia, noting that the work carried out by the commission is effective.
“The Commission helps to solve the tasks facing the Parliament of South Ossetia and the Federation Council of Russia. I am very pleased that there is a close relationship between our legislative bodies. Issues that arise, especially in the social sphere, are being resolved,” he said.
The head of state has stressed that further work will contribute to the development of interaction between the legislative bodies of the countries.
“I am sure that in the future the interaction between the legislative bodies will only increase. The results of our joint work will affect the well-being of the citizens of South Ossetia,” Anatoly Bibilov said.
For his part, Sergei Tsekov thanked the head of state for the warm welcome and for the correct assessment of cooperation.
“We perceive the problems of South Ossetia as our own ones. In the same way, South Ossetia perceives the victories and problems of Russia as their own. As for our joint work in the Commission, following the meetings, new decisions and agreements appear, thus, step by step, we are solving the socio-economic problems of South Ossetia,” he said.
Sergei Tsekov expressed hope for further cooperation, noting that the exchange of experience will contribute to the development of relations.
Anatoly Bibilov also conveyed words of gratitude and good wishes to the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko.
“We have developed warm relations with Valentina Ivanovna during my work as the Speaker of the Parliament. If any problem arises, she is always ready to help. When we had a crisis moment, at my request, the senators of the Federation Council arrived, which in a certain way influenced on the reduction of tension in South Ossetia. Special thanks to Valentina Ivanovna for this,” the President said.
At the end of the meeting, by presidential decree, Sergei Tsekov was awarded the Order of Friendship, and Crym Kazankov was awarded the Medal "In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War of the people of South Ossetia."
