On Wednesday, the capital of South Ossetia hosted a video bridge "Tskhinval-Sukhum" dedicated to the Day of recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia by Russia.

The videoconference for the South Ossetian part was attended by Deputy Head of the Presidential Executive Office of South Ossetia Alan Dzhussoev, Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev and the knight of the Uatsamonga order Tamaz Bestaev, for the Abkhaz part - bythe assistant to the President of Abkhazia for international affairs Maxim Gvindzhia.

“From the first day, it was blood and hard work of everyone involved in this holiday,” said the Knight of the Uatsamonga Order, adding that children are not sufficiently told about the events of 2008.

“I would suggest to documentarily perpetuate the memories of my generation, those who lived through all this, so that nothing would be forgotten. This, in my opinion, is necessary,” Bestaev said.

Murat Dzhioev congratulated the peoples of the fraternal republics on the holiday.

“This is a very important day in the life of our peoples. For me, 13 is a lucky number, and I hope that our Republics will celebrate this day for many years. As for the very fact of recognition, this is an assessment of the path that our republics have passed. We built our state and sought recognition. The most important thing is that we did not make mistakes on the way of establishing our states,” the Plenipotentiary said.

As noted by Dzhioev, over 13 years the fraternal republics have come a long way to establish friendly relations with the Russian Federation, which are based on a solid contractual basis, having added that the cooperation will continue.

“The act of recognition of independence in 2008 is absolutely deserved recognition, we had been going for this for a long time, but, unfortunately, our Ossetian brothers had to pay a high price for it. The whole world was watching as the Georgian aggressors were trying to destroy an entire people. I sometimes imagine with horror what would have happened if Georgia had been able to achieve what it wanted,” said Maxim Gvindzhia, Assistant to the President of Abkhazia for International Affairs.

In his opinion, “no one except Russia could protect the rights and freedom of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

“We will always be grateful for that. In the centuries-old history of Russia, there are many examples when it came to the aid of other peoples, but, unfortunately, many people forget about this and become Russophobes. Our friendship has been tested by numerous difficulties and time and is becoming stronger, "said Maxim Gvindzhia, adding that now the most important thing is to make our countries the way those guys who died for the freedom of our countries dreamed of, so that the future of the republics would be stable and prosperous. ...

The videoconference participants discussed the recent call by the United States, Great Britain, France and other countries to revoke the recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

According to Gvindzhia, it is even ridiculous to react to such statements, because it is impossible to turn back time.

Alan Dzhussoev spoke in support of Gvindzhia's words.

“I agree that one cannot seriously react to this. Nevertheless, similar requirements to the Russian Federation arise every year in one form or another. In my opinion, you need to ignore this and go about your business. The more we work, the more developed our economic and social component, the fewer such proposals will be,” said Deputy Head of the Presidential Executive Office.

Alan Dzhussoev has added that the Western countries are only interested in strengthening their positions in Georgia, while the South Ossetian side always draws attention to the fact that South Ossetia has nothing to do with the territorial integrity of Georgia.
