Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia intends to continue to be guided by the national interests of the Republic of South Ossetia, increasing the efficiency of its work on the implementation of the key foreign policy goals, strengthening its positions in the international arena and creating strong guarantees of security and sovereignty of the state, - the press service of the Foreign Ministry told the IA “Res”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the leading body in the field of the implementation of relations with foreign states and international organizations, control over the implementation of the international obligations of the Republic.

The Ministry has noted that priority in foreign policy is given to the further development and deepening of friendly relations with the Russian Federation, a strategic partner of South Ossetia.

“In January and December 2021, South Ossetian Foreign Minister Dmitry Medoev met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the key issues in Russia's relations with the Republic of South Ossetia, its foreign policy coordination and regional security. On January 25, a meeting was held in Moscow at the Spiridonovka, during which was signed the Plan of Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia and Russia for 2021-2022. The next meeting took place at the end of the year on December 20 in Sochi. Special attention was paid to security issues in Transcaucasia, the importance of discussing of which is largely due to the difficult situation in the region, in particular, in the light of the increasing military activity of the United States and the NATO in Georgia,” the press service of the Foreign Ministry said.

Eight agreements were signed between South Ossetia and Russia in 2021. So, with the direct participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on May 19, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Medoev and Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Marat Kulakhmetov exchanged certificates of ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Russian Federation on the mutual recognition of documents confirming the fact of establishing the disability of persons dismissed from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. of South Ossetia, and persons dismissed from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The press service added that on September 20, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, was held a solemn ceremony of signing the Agreement between South Ossetia and Russia on the settlement of issues of dual citizenship.

During his working trip to Moscow, Foreign Minister Dmitry Medoev met with his colleague from the Republic of Nicaragua Denis Moncada Colindres.

On May 29, on the third anniversary of the recognition of the state independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by the Syrian Arab Republic, 60 coniferous seedlings were planted in the Tskhinval culture and recreation park as a symbol of friendship between South Ossetia and Syria.
