South Ossetia and the Donetsk People's Republic have not yet discussed the candidacies of ambassadors to the republics, President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov said in the interview with RIA Novosti.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the decrees recognizing the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. South Ossetia recognized the independence of the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR back in 2014.

"No, of course not. We have representatives both in Donetsk and in South Ossetia who are working being a connecting link, I will say so, not absolute diplomatic relations, but in any case, at the level of those relations that are necessary for our republics to interact and develop these interactions," he said.

As for the opening of the embassies, Bibilov said that this issue was being discussed with the leadership of the DPR, "in principle, nothing prevents us, moreover, there are opportunities for this."

"I think that now is the period when the most important thing is to determine the integrity of the Donetsk People's Republic, when there is a need to liberate those territories of the Donetsk People's Republic that are occupied by Ukraine, and after that, calmly move on to those political, diplomatic steps that are necessary for our two peoples, our two republics," the head of South Ossetia said.
