In South Ossetia, on the day of the presidential election - April 10, at 8 am, 72 polling stations will be opened, where citizens of the Republic will be able to realize their right to vote.
Four more polling stations will be opened in the capitals of Russia, Abkhazia and North Ossetia, one each in Moscow and Sukhum and two in Vladikavkaz. For the forthcoming presidential election, 40,000 ballots have been printed, of which 4,400 ballots will be sent to two polling stations in Vladikavkaz, 800 ballots to Moscow and 100 to Sukhum. In total, more than 32 thousand voters are registered.
The International Information Center of the Central Election Commission of South Ossetia will begin its work on Sunday, April 10, where all information about the voting process both at the polling stations on the territory of the Republic and abroad will be collected.
In addition to local journalists, about 20 representatives of the Russian media will be covering the presidential elections.
More than 40 international observers will arrive in South Ossetia to monitor the presidential elections - delegations from Russia, the republics of Donbass, Abkhazia, Austria, Venezuela, Germany, Nagorno-Karabakh, Nicaragua, Finland, etc.
Friday, April 8 - the last day of pre-election campaigning of presidential candidates before the "day of silence". Political campaigning is prohibited the day before the start of voting.
The current head of state Anatoly Bibilov, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Alexander Pliev, leader of the Nykhas political party Alan Gagloev, deputy Garry Muldarov and former deputy Dmitry Tasoev will be competing for the highest state post of the Republic.
The head of the Republic is elected for a term of five years. The same person cannot hold this position for more than two consecutive terms.
The incumbent President, Anatoly Bibilov, was elected to this post in April 2017.
