The Incumbent President of South Ossetia, Anatoly Bibilov, awarded Soslan Yasonovich Gabaraev with the Order of Uatsamonga (posthumously) for courage and heroism shown in defending the independence and territorial integrity of the Republic, the press service of the head of state reports.
“He showed an example of courage and bravery here, in South Ossetia, and during the conflict in the North Caucasus, and in Abkhazia. He really was a brave warrior, he was a hero, a hero for all of us,” the President said.
Anatoly Bibilov expressed his gratitude to Defense Minister Vladimir Pukhaev for supporting this initiative.
“I think this is the right decision. We must know our heroes; we have no right to forget them.
The award has found its hero, unfortunately, posthumously. Justice must always prevail. This is our strength,” he said and expressed his gratitude to the wife of Soslan Gabaraev, who is also serving in the Armed Forces of the Republic of South Ossetia.
