The State Security Committee of South Ossetia continues to implement a set of measures to curb the activities of foreign special services in the border area to the detriment of the security of the Republic, the press service of the special service reports.

"As part of this work, a resident of the city of Tskhinval was identified, who was maintaining stable contacts with representatives of the Georgian special services, on whose instructions she was collecting and transmitting information regarding the situation developing on the territory of the Republic, with the threat of bringing the latter to criminal or administrative liability on the territory of Georgia," the KGB notes.

Taking into account the fact that the materials transferred by the person to the Georgian side do not constitute a state secret and did not harm the security of the Republic, on May 5, the committee issued an official warning to her about the inadmissibility of actions that create conditions for committing a crime under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "High Treason".

"According to the legislation of the Republic of South Ossetia, treason and espionage are considered especially serious crimes against the individual, society and the state, for which criminal liability is provided in the form of imprisonment for a period of 12 to 20 years," the press service of the Committee reminds.

At the same time, a citizen, according to the message of the special service, who promptly informed the competent authorities about his contacts with representatives of foreign special services, if his actions did not harm the security of the country, is exempted from criminal liability, and the KGB takes measures to protect him.
