The exhibition of the Ossetian artists opened the day before in one of the Van Gogh museums in the city of Etten-Leur in the Netherlands. This was reported to IA "Res" by the pPenipotentiary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia in the Benelux countries (commonwealth of Belgium, the Netherlands and the Kingdom of Luxembourg), the head of the international association "Renaissance-Sandidzan" Radion Pukhaev.

“A very important event took place in the cultural life of Ossetia. Due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and 2021, our anniversary events as part of the Days of Ossetian Culture in Europe did not take place. Although an interesting program was planned in several countries, a lot of preparatory work was carried out, a catalog was published, after all, 10 years of events. And finally, such an event,” said Pukhaev.

According to him, the exhibition of the Ossetian artists is taking place in a completely unique place.

“Once this museum was a church. And now it is called "Van Gogh's Church". Van Gogh's father Theodoros was serving there for many years. It was in this city (at that time it was called Etten) that Vincent van Gogh began his short career. It was here that he declared himself as an artist. 15 meters from this museum was his first workshop, allocated by his father. For a nominal fee of 6.50 euros, the museum visitors can hear an amazing story about the work and life of Van Gogh in Etten, about the events that changed and influenced the life and fate of the great artist,” said Pukhaev.

He has noted that the exhibition itself is unique.

“It brought together almost all the participants of the Days of Ossetian Culture in Europe of different years. 23 artists of different generations and more than 100 works are presented at the Inspiration exhibition. It is symbolic that after a forced break of more than two years caused by the pandemic, the events begin in the place where Van Gogh started. This is, without a doubt, the output of events to a qualitatively new level.

It's a good time to turn the page and start exploring new platforms and new continents. There are several proposals from Latin America and Asia, in Europe to concentrate on solo exhibitions and quality venues. I hope this exhibition will become a kind of springboard for conquering new heights,” Pukhaev has concluded.

The exhibition of the Ossetian artists at the Van Gogh Museum will run until 5 August.
