Residents of Tiraspol gathered at the Memorial of Glory and honored the memory of the victims of Georgia's attack on South Ossetia on August 8, 2008 with a minute of silence.

The head of the representation of South Ossetia in Pridnestrovie, Vitaly Yankovsky, highly appreciated the role of Russia, which stopped the armed conflict, and the contribution of Pridnestrovians in the restoration of what was destroyed in Tskhinval.

In memory of the perished, those present laid flowers at the temporary memorial "South Ossetia. War 08.08.08".

The Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR), which survived the war earlier, shares the grief of the Ossetian people for those perished during the Georgian aggression in August 2008. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR, published on August 8.

“We bow our heads low in front of all those who fell in the struggle for the freedom and independence of their country, and we wish a peaceful sky above our heads,” the appeal says.

The PMR Foreign Ministry has noted that a mourning action was held in Tiraspol on the occasion of the anniversary of the start of the war, during which flowers were laid at the Glory Memorial in memory of the killed. The event was attended by representatives of state authorities, public organizations and residents of the republic. The Foreign Ministry was presented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Alexander Stetsyuk.
