The U.S. citizen Frank Yanez, who violated the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia, was expelled from the Republic on Wednesday, the press service of the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia reported.

“On July 27, the Border Guard Service of the KGB of South Ossetia in the area of the settlement of “Balata” (Leningor district) for illegally crossing the state border between South Ossetia and Georgia detained the US citizen Frank Yanez, born July 1, 1999, a native of California, resident of Jackson Country, Oregon.

On August 24, after carrying out a complex of verification and filtration measures, Yanez, in accordance with the current legislation, was expelled from the Republic and handed over to the Georgian side," the press service said.

They noted that the responsibility for this incident lies entirely with the leadership of Georgia and the United States, which refuse to recognize the sovereignty of South Ossetia and purposefully hide from foreign citizens the fact that there is a state border between South Ossetia and Georgia.

“Lately, this is the second case when the US citizen was not aware of the existence of the South Ossetian-Georgian state border line and illegally crossed it, with a threat to his own life.

We are confident that full-fledged personal security of the citizens of the United States, as well as of all other countries, is possible only after the completion of the process of delimitation and demarcation of the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia and the provision of all interested parties with comprehensive information regarding the line of its passage," the Committee said.
